A considered return to natural limewash, grounded in tradition and refined for heritage & contemporary interiors.
The foundations of Lime au Lait Atelier are deeply informed by European architecture, craftsmanship, and restoration traditions. Founder Jane has spent over two decades working across Australia, England, and France as a project manager specialising in interior finishes for both heritage and contemporary homes.
Her passion for traditional materials and sustainable building practices was shaped through extensive restoration work, including the renovation of the 400-year-old Château du Jonquay and its adjoining farmhouse in France. These projects immersed her in the enduring beauty of lime-based finishes and the healthier, breathable paints commonly used throughout Europe.
It was here that Jane recognised a gap in the Australian market for natural, plastic-free paints that honoured these traditions while meeting contemporary design needs. Lime au Lait Atelier was created to bring this philosophy to Australian interiors—translating European techniques into a modern, accessible powdered limewash suited to spaces both old and new.
At Lime au Lait Atelier, we believe paint should support healthier interiors while respecting the materials and spaces it inhabits. Our vision is to create sustainable, non-toxic limewash paints that prioritise longevity, breathability, and thoughtful design.
Rooted in traditional European craftsmanship, our powdered paints are made using pure, natural ingredients and time-honoured techniques. Reduced to their most essential form, they are designed to minimise excess without compromising depth, tone, or performance.
Through plastic-free composition and packaging, an intuitive add-water process, and a restrained, considered palette, Lime au Lait offers a quieter, more sustainable approach to colour—one that supports calm, enduring interiors.
