Powdered paint is an alternative to plastic paint in tins. It is a traditional type of mineral-based paint made using natural limestone. When applied to a surface, it undergoes a natural curing process with carbon dioxide in the air, turning back into limestone and creating a beautiful, soft, matte finish with subtle tonal variations.
What makes our powdered paint especially appealing is its eco-friendly and sustainable nature. It's made from natural ingredients, free of harmful chemicals, and is biodegradable, which means it won’t pollute the environment during or after use. Unlike synthetic plastic paints, our paint contains no VOCs (volatile organic compounds), making it a healthier choice for both indoor air quality and the planet.
Beyond its environmental benefits, our powdered paint also has natural antibacterial and antifungal properties, helping to inhibit mould and mildew growth.

Lime wash paint and plastic (or acrylic) paints serve the same purpose of adding colour and protection to surfaces, but they are fundamentally different in composition, appearance, and environmental impact.
1. Ingredients & Composition
Lime wash paint is made from natural materials (primarily lime) and water. It’s mineral-based, non-toxic, and contains no synthetic chemicals. It is plastic free, and therefore is eco-friendly.
Plastic paints (like acrylic or latex paints) are made from petrochemical-based resins, synthetic binders, and additives. These often include VOCs (volatile organic compounds), which contribute to indoor air pollution.
2. Breathability
Lime paint is breathable, meaning it allows moisture to pass through walls rather than trapping it. This reduces the risk of mould and helps maintain a healthier indoor environment.
Plastic paints are film-forming, sealing the surface and often trapping moisture, which can lead to peeling, blistering, or mould growth over time, especially on older or porous walls.
3. Finish & Aesthetic
Lime wash gives a matte, soft, and gentle textured finish, with beautiful tonal variations that change with light. It's known for its organic, timeless look.
Plastic paints offer a smooth, uniform finish with a range of sheens (matte to glossy), but lacks the natural movement and depth that lime paint offers.
4. Sustainability
Lime wash is biodegradable, non-toxic, and carbon-absorbing (it actually reabsorbs CO₂ as it cures). It’s one of the most sustainable paint options available.
Plastic paints are not biodegradable, often contain chemicals, and have a larger environmental footprint from production to disposal.

Our powdered paint is a versatile, breathable coating that works beautifully on a range of surfaces when properly prepared. Here's how it performs across different applications:
Interior Surfaces
Lime paint is perfect for interior walls and ceilings, especially those made of plaster, brick, stone, or raw drywall. Because it’s breathable and naturally antimicrobial, it helps regulate moisture and prevent mould. For best results, the surface should be porous and matte, as lime paint needs to absorb slightly to bond well. Non-porous surfaces (like glossy paints or sealed drywall) may require a primer.Exterior Surfaces
For exterior application lime paint can be used on materials like stone, brick, and unpainted render. It ages with character, developing a natural patina over time. -
Lime paint typically dries to the touch within a few hours, depending on temperature and humidity. However, it's important to note that limewash doesn't just dry, it cures over time. The curing process can take up to 10–14 days as the lime reacts with carbon dioxide in the air (a process called carbonation), gradually hardening and developing its final finish.
During this time, the colour may subtly change and deepen. Allowing the paint to cure naturally ensures the most authentic and long-lasting finish.
